Well, I think I'm making these lists too complicated, and it's slowing me down in getting them to you. Instead, I'm going to send you directly to LibraryThing (where I've entered all our new books) and you'll be able to see the new books we've bought much more quickly. I've entered every book that we've acquired since December, 2007. That's 575 books. And they're all categorized by audience (adult or juvenile), month (mmyy), and genre (fiction, nonfiction, mystery, picture).

What is LibraryThing anyway?

When I first started compiling lists of our new books at the Belding Library, I wanted to be able to give you information about each of the books without sending you to a commercial site like Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

What I found was LibraryThing, an online cataloging system of books. The Belding Library has its own page at LibraryThing, and starting in December, 2007, all the new acquisitions have been and will be added to our catalog there. The Belding Memorial Library acquires some 40 new books every week. The idea of this blog is to make a list of those books and, perhaps more ambitiously, create a community-run Wiki that will link the list of books to their summaries, reviews, and author information.

If you'd like to help, please visit the Belding Library Wiki and add information about the books. I've been copying Description information directly from each book's web site, considering that Fair Use. But we buy so many books, I'm having a hard time keeping up. I need your help. (If you'd like to help and can't seem to navigate the Wiki, contact me and I'll be happy to give you some guidance.)
